Decathlon Ghana joins Cleanup Day at Laboma beach

Decathlon, the biggest sports shop in West Africa were part of the participants of the cleanup that took place at the Laboma Beach in Accra on Saturday 19th September to mark the celebration of World Clean Up Day 2020.

Kwasi Tabury Managing Director of Decathlon Ghana said it is a honour to support in the cleaning of the nation.

“With Environmental Preservation being one of the Social Causes we fight for, we participate in the World Clean Up Day each day by organising Clean Up Sessions in multiple locations in the City” he said.

This year the day was marked with a Beach Clean Up Session at the Laboma Beach in partnership with Let’s Do It Ghana, the Ghana Wildlife Association, the Australian High Commission, the Coastal Conservation Organization and many others.

“We gathered over 2 tonnes of waste on the Beach, after which we segregated the plastic waste from the other waste. An audit was also conducted to find out where the plastic waste was coming from.

We would like to thank everyone who participated, the organisers and of course the Decathlon Team who came to support” he added.

“Thanks to Decathlon Ghana our COMMUNITY through SPORTS will have more PLEASURE, better HEALTH and a better SOCIAL INTEGRATION thus LIVE LIFE to the FULLEST.

“Our KPI: Increase life expectancy at birth from 67 to 77 years.”

The Cleanup Day was organized by Let’s Do It Ghana, with support coming from the Australia High Commission and other organisations.
